The HCP is only required for nurses or doctors who may be working on a code team. In order to be accepted in a CPR HCP Recertification course, you must show proof of a current valid CPR Level C or HCP Certificate.
The recertification courses are skill-only courses - your skills must be good enough that when the instructor demonstrates the skill, you can perform it with no further teaching. These courses are intended for professionals who recertify every year or two, i.e. lifeguards, first responders, health care providers and those working in the fitness industry. For those who work in licensed child, youth and adult care facilities, your licensing bodies now require a full eight-hour course.
